danielistics is dead, long live danielistics

So this blog was pretty much a failure, I'm ready to admit that.

I have, however, created a new and exciting website that will be updated every single day. (this is a promise I can keep as it requires very little writing and a lot more drawing)

So from now on, please direct any attention you might still have to:

...I promise, seriously.

meanwhile, in the arctic

I spent a week in the small, east-greenlandic island village of Kulusuk (population: 300). We got snowed in for several days after our flight was supposed to leave but are finally back in Reykjavik. I thought I knew what isolation was. I did not. Ammassalik, the section of Greenland we were in, has a population of 10,000 but is larger than the United Kingdom.

Our guide Johann described Kulusuk as a combonation between the wild west and the gold rush in Alaska. Then he rode away on an ATV to shoot his AK-47 in to the mountains. Our two closest neighbors killed their uncles and then tried to commit suicide and failed (one blew off his left eye). However, as the one in the yellow house is a dangerous loner; the one in the green house is "just fine".

A google image search for "kulusuk" comes up with appropriate results.

I took a bunch of pictures, I'll make a big post of them and some stories as soon as I get done sorting them both out.

The pain of pain (dedicated to x-tina)

I have not seen the sun in several days, I have not done anything but sleep and work on a final essay that is slowly killing me. Today I woke up at 8:00pm and for "breakfast" ate two bowls of cereal. It did not make me feel any more like a human being. The end.
